State-of-the-art Rajasthan refinery marks a major leap in India’s energy security, petrochemical expansion and industrial growth

Pachpadra (Rajasthan): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday July 4, 2026 inaugurated the landmark Pachpadra Greenfield Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in Rajasthan, describing it as a transformative project that will strengthen India’s energy infrastructure while accelerating industrial and economic development in western India.

The mega refinery, one of the country’s most ambitious energy projects, is expected to significantly enhance India’s crude oil refining capacity and reduce dependence on imported petroleum products. Equipped with advanced refining and petrochemical technologies, the complex is designed to produce cleaner fuels and a wide range of value-added petrochemical products, supporting the government’s vision of an energy-secure and self-reliant India.

During his visit, the Prime Minister reviewed the refinery’s state-of-the-art control systems and inspected samples of petroleum products produced at the facility. Officials briefed him on the refinery’s integrated operations, digital monitoring systems and environmental safeguards aimed at ensuring efficient and sustainable production.

Beyond strengthening the energy sector, the project is expected to generate substantial direct and indirect employment, stimulate ancillary industries and boost economic activity across Rajasthan. Improved logistics, downstream manufacturing opportunities and investments in petrochemicals are also anticipated to benefit the region in the coming years.

The inauguration marks a significant milestone in India’s expanding energy infrastructure, reinforcing the country’s long-term strategy of balancing economic growth with technological advancement and cleaner fuel production.
