A resolution has been passed in the Cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which says that ‘Democracy was murdered during the Emergency. A statement issued on the Cabinet meeting said that India, as the mother of democracy, is the embodiment of the preservation, protection and defense of constitutional values.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, a resolution was passed in the cabinet meeting of the Central Government on Tuesday. Sources said that in this resolution, the Emergency imposed in 1975 was described as ‘murder of democracy’ and it was strongly condemned.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed in the cabinet briefing on Tuesday that in the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a resolution was passed strongly condemning the Emergency imposed in 1975. In view of the 50th anniversary of the Emergency in the year 2025, this resolution was passed, reiterating the protection of democracy and the values ​​​​of the Constitution.

Innocent people had to face atrocities!

For example, the resolution said that before and during the Emergency, democratic values ​​were violated across the country, fundamental rights of citizens were snatched away and many innocent people had to face atrocities. On this occasion, all the Union Ministers including Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the victims of the Emergency and observed two minutes of silence in their honour. All the ministers stood up and participated in the silence.

Those who opposed the emergency were called democracy fighters

The cabinet meeting claimed that human freedom and dignity were also abolished during the emergency. In a statement issued on the cabinet meeting, those who opposed the emergency were called democracy fighters and the cabinet appealed to senior citizens as well as youth to learn from these democracy fighters.

The statement said that these heroes opposed dictatorial tendencies and strongly protected our constitution and democratic spirit.
