Raipur: On the occasion of National Handloom Day on Thursday August 7, 2025 , a delegation from the Chhattisgarh Weavers’ Community paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at his official residence in the capital, Raipur.

CM Sai warmly welcomed all the representatives and extended his heartfelt greetings on National Handloom Day.

Appreciating the contributions of the community, he remarked that “Handloom craftsmanship is a treasured heritage that gives Chhattisgarh a distinct identity and reinforces our cultural pride.”

Highlighting the crucial role played by weavers in society, the Chief Minister noted that the weaving community of Chhattisgarh has been enhancing the state’s reputation through their dedication, skill, and creativity.

CM Sai reiterated that the state government is making comprehensive efforts to support the prosperity, empowerment, and self-reliance of weavers. From ensuring access to raw materials and reducing production costs to expanding marketing facilities — various schemes are being effectively implemented on all fronts. “Self-reliance is the key to unlocking the full creative potential of our weavers,” he emphasised.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Vocal for Local”, the Chief Minister said, “This is the time to celebrate and promote our traditional products and craftsmanship. The handloom industry is not just a source of livelihood but a vibrant symbol of our cultural consciousness, which the weaver community continues to preserve with great devotion.”

On this occasion, the members of the community presented the Chief Minister with a replica of a traditional handloom — a weaving machine crafted by local artisans. Acknowledging the gesture, CM Sai said, “This offering is not just a token of respect and emotion, but a representation of creation, tradition, and the cultural values of our state.”

Assuring full support, CM Vishnu Deo Sai said that the Chhattisgarh government is firmly committed to extending every possible assistance to the weaver community and prioritising their holistic development. “The coming times will mark a new era of dignity, prosperity, and empowerment for our weavers,” he added.

The delegation included Chhattisgarh Weavers’ Community’s National Vice President Mahesh Devangan, Purushottam Devangan, Dhanesh Devangan, Gajendra Devangan, and other senior members.
