Singapore: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday October 4, 2026 opened his Singapore engagement with a twin focus on green development and global investment, holding discussions with Gardens by the Bay officials and later presenting the state’s economic potential before business leaders at the Singapore Business Federation’s Leadership Dinner.

Sai is leading the Chhattisgarh delegation participating in the inaugural Singapore-India Network for Growth (SING) Forum 2026, following the state’s nomination by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

Gardens by the Bay Experience for Nava Raipur

On the first day of the visit, Sai and the state delegation held a formal meeting with Jason Yeo, General Manager, Master Planning, and Lim Chiap Song, Director, Gardens by the Bay, along with senior officials of the organisation.

The Chhattisgarh delegation was briefed on the internationally known garden destination’s approach to master planning, sustainable design and garden management. Discussions explored possibilities for institutional cooperation in horticulture, botanical conservation, urban greening, eco-tourism and capacity development.

Chhattisgarh, with its extensive forest cover and biodiversity, is looking at ways in which international experience can complement its own environmental assets while developing new attractions and better-planned green spaces.

Highlighting the potential of such cooperation, Chief Minister Sai said:

🔴 “Chhattisgarh is a state blessed with rich forests and biodiversity. The expertise and experience of Gardens by the Bay can be utilised for developing the botanical garden in Nava Raipur as well as improving landscaping and expanding green spaces in the state’s urban and rural areas.”

He linked the initiative not only with environmental improvement but also with tourism and livelihoods.

🔴 “This will give a new dimension to Chhattisgarh’s tourism potential, increase tourist footfall and create new employment opportunities for hundreds of people.”

The discussions indicate that the proposed botanical garden in Nava Raipur could form part of a broader strategy in which urban development, conservation, landscaping and tourism are developed in a complementary manner.

Sai Joins SBF Leadership Dinner

The Chief Minister later attended the Leadership Dinner organised by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) on the eve of the SING Forum.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, India’s High Commissioner to Singapore Dr Shilpak Ambule, Singapore Business Federation Chairman Mark Lee and CEO Kok Ping Soon were among those present.

Senior representatives from Mastercard, Tata Consultancy Services, Nestlé and The Indian Hotels Company Limited also participated, along with the seven-member Chhattisgarh delegation and a 26-member delegation from Haryana.

The gathering provided a platform for direct interaction between representatives of Indian states and Singapore’s business community on investment, trade and prospects for longer-term economic partnerships.

Chhattisgarh Makes Its Investment Pitch

Sai used the interaction to position Chhattisgarh as a rapidly emerging investment destination, drawing attention to the state’s industrial policy, reforms aimed at improving ease of doing business and opportunities available across MSMEs, startups and manufacturing.

The Chief Minister invited Singapore’s business community to look beyond conventional perceptions of Chhattisgarh and explore opportunities emerging from the state’s changing industrial and investment environment.

🔴 “We invite Singapore’s industry leaders to become partners in the journey of building a ‘Viksit Chhattisgarh’ and to take advantage of the investment opportunities available in the state.”

The Singapore engagement comes as Chhattisgarh seeks to expand its economic partnerships and attract investment by presenting the state’s resources, policy environment and emerging sectors to international businesses.

The visit also combines investment promotion with exposure to international models of sustainable urban development—a combination that could prove particularly relevant for the future development of Nava Raipur.

SING Forum and CEO Roundtable Ahead

Sai is scheduled to participate in SING Forum 2026 on October 5. The forum is expected to deepen interaction between Indian states and Singapore’s business and investment ecosystem.

The Chhattisgarh delegation will continue its investment outreach on October 6, when the Chief Minister is scheduled to participate in a CEO Roundtable with the top leadership of prominent Singapore companies and investment institutions.

The roundtable will provide an opportunity to discuss specific investment possibilities, economic partnerships and areas where Singapore-based businesses could engage with Chhattisgarh.

For the state, the three-day engagement therefore carries two parallel objectives: learning from Singapore’s experience in sustainable and green urban development, and presenting Chhattisgarh as an investment destination capable of supporting new industrial and business partnerships.
