Chief Minister Shri Sai honored Swachhta Didi, said – they are playing an important role in making the country clean and healthy

Raipur: The Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that cleanliness is not just a campaign, but a collective responsibility of all of us. He said that the role of our Swachhta Didi has been very important in making the country clean and healthy, who have given a new direction to the society with dedication, hard work and service spirit.

Chief Minister Sai said that Jashpur is a naturally rich and beautiful district, but earlier when he used to visit villages, the garbage spread on the roadside tarnished the beauty of villages and towns. To change this situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2, 2014 and converted it into a national mass movement. He himself picked up the broom and inspired the people and awakened the spirit of cleanliness in every village and city. He tried to give every citizen the right to live a clean and respectable life.

The Chief Minister said that the participation of our Swachhta Didi has been very important in this campaign. It is the result of their tireless hard work and dedication that today Jashpur district has made its own identity at the national level in the field of cleanliness. They really deserve respect, because they have made an invaluable contribution in providing us a clean and healthy environment. The Chief Minister called upon all the citizens to consider the cleanliness of their house, locality, intersection, temple and public places as their duty and include cleanliness in their habit.

It is worth mentioning that as many as 4,589 cities were included under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U) in the Swachhta Survey 2024 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to evaluate and promote urban sanitation improvements. In this national survey, the urban bodies of Jashpur district have waved their flag across the country by performing phenomenally.

In this, Jashpur Nagar has secured 10th position in the entire country in the population category of 20,000 to 50,000, which is a long jump from the 505th ranking of 2023. In the same category, Nagar Panchayat Kunkuri has secured 13th rank, Nagar Panchayat Pathalgaon has secured 30th rank, Nagar Panchayat Bagicha has secured 51st rank, and Nagar Panchayat Kotba has secured 64th rank. This extraordinary achievement is the result of the hard work of Swachhata Didi and the coordinated efforts of the administrative team.

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, many works are being carried out in a planned manner by the urban bodies to make the district clean and beautiful, including BT. Road construction, road marking, upgradation of community toilets, beautification of squares and intersections, wall painting, construction of parks from waste material, establishment of composting sheds and recycling centers, installation of paver blocks on footpaths, signage etc. are the major ones. But the soul of these efforts are the Swachhata Didis, who go to every street and locality and carry out laborious tasks like door to door garbage collection.

On this occasion, Jashpur MLA Raimuni Bhagat congratulated all the Swachhata Didis, officials of urban bodies and citizens on this achievement. Vice President of Surguja Development Authority and Pathalgaon MLA Gomti Sai said that Swachhata Didis are doing the work which was earlier neglected in the society. She said that people were never conscious about cleanliness, but under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Didis not only made people aware but also ensured behavioral change, due to which Jashpur has received this pride.

District Panchayat Chairman Salik Say, Vice Chairman Shaurya Pratap Singh Judeo, Collector Rohit Vyas, Municipal Council Chairman Arvind Bhagat, Vice Chairman Yash Pratap Singh Judeo along with other public representatives and eminent citizens were present in large numbers in the program.
