Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai participated in the program “Journey of Chhattisgarhi Films” on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee: Senior Artists and Producers Honored
Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday December 21 , 2025 participated in the program “Journey of Chhattisgarhi Films on the Occasion of Chhattisgarh’s Silver Jubilee” organised by the Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation at the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in the Science College campus of the capital Raipur.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister shared his views in detail on the development journey, achievements, and bright future of Chhattisgarhi cinema.
In his address, Chief Minister Sai recalled the contribution of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh in the formation of the Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation and said that he played an important role in laying a strong foundation for Chhaliwood.
Remembering the late Rajesh Awasthi, the first Chairman of the Corporation, he said that his untimely demise is an irreparable loss not only to Chhattisgarhi cinema but to the entire state.
Chief Minister Sai said that Chhattisgarhi cinema has entered a new era. Describing the current Chairman of the Corporation, Mona Sen, as an experienced, hardworking, and dedicated artist, he expressed confidence that under her leadership, Chhaliwood will ensure all-round development.
The Chief Minister said that in the future, Chhattisgarhi films will further establish the state’s culture, art, and identity at the national and international levels.
Referring to the historic journey of film production in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Sai said that film production in the state began in 1957.
He described the National Award received by the film “Bhoolan The Maze,” based on the novel “Bhoolan Kanda,” as a matter of pride for the entire state. The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarhi cinema is deeply rooted in folk culture, folklore, and social concerns, which gives it a unique identity.
He said that Chhattisgarhi cinema is a living document of our folk culture and identity.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is working with full seriousness and commitment towards the development of Chhattisgarhi films. In this regard, Chitrotpala Film City is being constructed, for which an amount of ₹150 crore has been approved.
He expressed confidence that the future of Chhaliwood in the state is bright and that the government will provide all possible support to take the film industry to new heights.
Chief Minister Sai, while extending his best wishes for the Silver Jubilee year of Chhattisgarh, said that this historic year is writing a new chapter in the all-round development of the state. He expressed hope that this event will prove to be a milestone in the development of Chhattisgarhi films.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also honored producers and senior artists who have made significant contributions to Chhattisgarhi cinema: Mohan Sundarani, Satish Jain, Santosh Jain, Shri Manoj Verma, Anuj Sharma, and Prem Chandrakar.
Addressing the event, Mona Sen, Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation, congratulated Chief Minister Sai and expressed her gratitude for the reorganisation of the corporation.
She thanked Satish Jain, producer of the Chhattisgarhi film “Mor Chhainha Bhuinya,” stating that the film played a significant role in establishing a new identity for Chhattisgarhi cinema. She also reiterated her commitment to the holistic and sustainable development of the Chhattisgarhi film industry.
Skill Development Minister Guru Khuswant Saheb, MLAs Sunil Soni, Purandar Mishra, and Anuj Sharma, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Deepak Mhaske, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Fishermen Welfare Board Bharat Matiara, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Oil Mill Development Board Jitendra Sahu, Director of the Culture Department Vivek Acharya, along with a large number of artists, producers, and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
