Raipur; Raipur City South Bypoll: Voting for the by-election in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur city South assembly constituency started at 7 am on Wednesday November 13, 2024 amid tight security. 30 candidates are in the fray for this seat. There is a long queue of voters at the polling booths. Voting is going on in all polling stations. 8.23% voting has taken place in Raipur South Assembly till 10 am.

This is going to be a direct contest between Congress and BJP. Congress candidate Akash Sharma exercised his vote along with his family at the polling station in Sundar Nagar and after voting, Akash Sharma said that after 35 years the record of South Assembly is going to be broken, I am sure that the voters of South will vote for Congress. This election is of inactivity versus activity. At the same time, BJP MLA Motilal Sahu has cast his vote at the Community Bhawan polling station in Ashwini Nagar. BJP candidate Sunil Soni will go to vote at Maharana Pratap School Edward Road at 10:00 am.

There are 2,71,169 voters in this constituency including 1,33,800 men and 1,37,317 women and 52 transgenders. A total of 253 polling stations have been set up for the by-election. Five companies of security personnel are being deployed to maintain law and order. Counting of votes will take place on November 23.

Currently Brijmohan Agarwal is the MP of Raipur. After being elected to the Lok Sabha from Raipur parliamentary constituency, BJP MLA and former state minister Brijmohan Agarwal resigned, Due to that seat got vacant, that’s why Bypoll is being held for this seat.
