Raipur: Chhattisgarh: Today was a historic day for Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh Police. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah today handed over the President’s Nishan (Police Colors Award-2024) to the state police in a very dignified program organised at the Police Parade Ground in Raipur. This is the highest honor given to the armed forces of the country. The state has received this honor for the exceptional services, bravery and dedication of Chhattisgarh Police in the last 24 years. Chhattisgarh is the youngest state in the country to receive this honor, which has achieved this feat in just 24 years of its formation.

Home Minister Amit Shah, while congratulating the Chhattisgarh Police at the President’s Nishan Investiture Ceremony, said that the President’s Police Colours Award is not just an honor, it is a symbol of service and duty. The courage and commitment shown by the Chhattisgarh Police in the fight against Naxalism, organized crime and drugs is unprecedented. Chhattisgarh Police has emerged as one of the best and brave police forces in the country. He said that the Central and State Government are fully committed to make Chhattisgarh and the country Naxal-free. By March 31, 2026, Naxalism will be completely eradicated from Chhattisgarh and the country. Praising the Chhattisgarh Police, Mr. Shah said that it has not only maintained law and order, but has also strengthened the confidence of the public. He expressed hope that the President’s Police Colours Award will become a source of inspiration for the police force, boosting their courage and morale.

– Union Home Minister Shah said that it is a matter of pride for me to hand over the President’s insignia to the brave police of Chhattisgarh. This honor is a symbol of the hard work, dedication and affection of the Chhattisgarh Police towards the public. The Chhattisgarh Police is preparing to put the last nail in the coffin of the Naxalites. The police here has done a very good job in the law and order and Naxal front as well as in the Corona epidemic. He appealed to the Naxalites to give up arms and return to the mainstream. Paying tribute to the country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary today, Amit Shah said that the work done by Sardar Patel to unite the country has been further strengthened by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi by removing Article 370.

Congratulating the jawans and officers of Chhattisgarh Police, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that this honor has been received by our police force for their extraordinary services and dedication towards the public in just 24 years of the formation of Chhattisgarh state. This honor will not only boost the morale of the police force, but will also inspire them to work with more enthusiasm.

On the success of Chhattisgarh Police in anti-Naxal operations, the Chief Minister said that a large number of Naxalites have decided to surrender and return to the mainstream. He informed that better arrangements and special provisions have been made by the government for the rehabilitation of surrendered Naxalites. In accordance with the policy of the Government of India, arrangements are being made to immediately keep those who surrender and give up the path of violence in transit camps. Along with this, arrangements have been made to give them Rs 10,000 per month as stipend for three years. Training will also be provided for their skill development.

Sai said that under the rehabilitation policy, a provision has been made to give a maximum of 4 decimals of land in urban areas or a maximum of 1 hectare of agricultural land in rural areas for housing to the surrendered Maoists carrying a bounty of Rs 5 lakh or more. With the aim of rehabilitation of the surrendered Naxalites and Naxal-affected families of the state and to provide them a safe life, 15,000 concrete houses have been approved for them under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) by the Central Government. The Chief Minister said that efforts like ‘Mahila Thana’, Mahila Help Desk and ‘Abhivyakti’ app launched by the state police for the safety of women reflect their sensitivity and dedication towards the public.

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma said in his address that the President’s Nishan is a strong symbol of courage, service and dedication of Chhattisgarh Police. This decoration of the President’s Police Nishan not only makes the police force proud, but will also inspire them to work with new energy and enthusiasm. The state police has proved that it is synonymous with fear for the wicked and respect for the gentlemen.

Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, while giving information about the achievements of Chhattisgarh Police in his welcome speech, said that since the establishment of the state on 1 November 2000, the police force has shown courage and perseverance on every front. Referring to the anti-Naxal operations, rehabilitation policies and campaigns against drugs going on in Naxal-affected areas, he said that Chhattisgarh Police has always been ready to serve the public.

In the President’s Nishan Investiture Ceremony, the parade saluted the Chief Guest union Home Minister Amit Shah. Shah inspected the parade after the salute. March past was also done by the women and men platoons. Chief Guest Shri Shah handed over the President’s Nishan to Chhattisgarh Police amidst tricolor balloons and spectacular fireworks in the sky after chanting of mantras by religious leaders. In the program, he praised the 24-year journey of Chhattisgarh Police.
