Chhattisgarh Cabinet approves the proposal for the Excise Policy FY- 2026-27

A number of important decisions were taken at the cabinet meeting held today on Wednesday January 21, 2026 at the Chief Minister’s residence office in Civil Lines, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai:-Photo Credit-CG/PR

1) The Cabinet approved the proposal for the Chhattisgarh Excise Policy for the financial year 2026-27 and authorised the department to carry out all related ancillary proceedings.

2) The Cabinet approved the allocation of approximately 40 acres of land in Sector-18 of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar to Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) on a one-time lease for 90 years for the establishment of their Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies( NMIMS) .

SVKM is a renowned institution that has been working in the field of education since 1934 and currently operates 30 educational institutions, providing education to more than one lakh students annually in programs ranging from pre-primary to doctoral levels.

In 2025, this institution secured the 52nd rank in the NIRF University Rankings. The establishment of this national-level institution in Nava Raipur will further strengthen modern and quality education in the state.

3) The Cabinet decided to sign an MoU with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) for the establishment of four new entrepreneurship centers in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.

This MoU will be crucial in promoting the IT/ITeS industry and the technical start-up ecosystem in the state.

Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) operates 68 centers, 60 of which are located in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities of India. In collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Information Technology of the Chhattisgarh government, STPI will promote 133 domain-specific start-ups over the next three to five years through AI, MedTech (herbal medicine and forest product-based), Smart City, and Smart Agri entrepreneurship centers.

The state government will establish an Electronics System Design and Development (ESDD) center through STPI to provide support to students, entrepreneurs, researchers, and industries in developing prototypes of ESDM products.

This center will provide comprehensive support to 30 to 40 hardware startups and MSMEs annually.

4) The Council of Ministers has taken necessary decisions to ensure the availability of quality testing facilities in all government health institutions of Chhattisgarh state, to strengthen existing resources, and to increase the number of tests according to prescribed standards. These decisions pertain to the effective operation of laboratories in district hospitals, community health centers, and primary health centers across the state.
