Raipur: Chhattisgarh completed the first round of training for Census 2027 master trainers on Thursday, 5 November 2026, as the state prepares for the population enumeration phase. The four-day programme, which began on 2 November, was held at the Chhattisgarh Administration Academy in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.

According to the state government, enumerators will visit households from 25 January to 28 February 2027 to record details of their members. Chhattisgarh completed the first phase, covering house listing and the housing census, from 1 to 30 May 2026.

Master trainers to lead district-level instruction

The state has designated 60 master trainers, including 47 nominated by districts and 13 from the Directorate of Census Operations, Chhattisgarh. Once trained, they will instruct the 1,120 field trainers nominated by the districts. The field trainers will then prepare about 66,000 enumerators and supervisors for the household count.

National trainers Ashok Mishra and Pradeep Kumar Sahu, both joint directors, led the first batch. Participants worked through the population enumeration questionnaire, practised using the mobile application and learnt how to compile and check data. The practical sessions also prepared them to teach the same procedures to field trainers in their districts.

The first batch drew participants from Manendragarh–Chirmiri–Bharatpur, Koriya, Surajpur, Balrampur–Ramanujganj, Surguja, Jashpur, Raigarh, Korba, Gaurela–Pendra–Marwahi, Mungeli, Bilaspur, Janjgir–Champa, Sakti, Sarangarh–Bilaigarh, Balodabazar–Bhatapara and Khairagarh–Chhuikhadan–Gandai.

Second batch begins on 16 November
