Security forces killed 10 Naxalites in an encounter on Thursday September 11, 2025 . Top Naxalite leader Manoj alias Modem Balkrishna, who had a bounty of Rs 1 crore on his head, was among the killed Naxalites.
Gariband : In an operation in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband, security forces have killed 10 naxalites including Manoj alias Modem Balkrishna, who was carrying a bounty of Rs 1 crore. Modem’s death is being considered a major success for the security forces. According to sources, the operation was launched on Wednesday September 10, 2025 after intelligence inputs confirmed the presence of top Naxalite leader Balkrishna in the area.
Giving information about this operation, the security forces said that the operation was started on Wednesday based on intelligence input, in which 10 Naxalites including Modem Balkrishna, on whom a reward of Rs 1 crore was announced, were killed. The encounter took place in a remote area of Gariaband, where security forces surrounded a group of Naxalites.
According to the information received, teams of state police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Cobra Battalion were involved in this operation. Among the Naxalites killed in the encounter, Manoj alias Modem Balkrishna was a senior member of Odisha State Committee (OSC), on whom a reward of Rs 1 crore was announced.

Gariaband district has been a stronghold of Naxalite activities for a long time, where many encounters have taken place between security forces and Naxalites. In recent years, security forces have carried out many successful operations to weaken Naxalism here, in which many top Naxalite leaders have been killed or arrested.

Manoj alias Modem Balakrishna was a top leader in the Naxalite organisation, who was accused of several serious crimes, including murder, robbery and attack on the police. A reward of Rs 1 crore was announced on him, which is an indication of how influential he was in Naxalite activities. His death will help break the backbone of the Naxalite organisation, as he was the mastermind of many operations.
