Army’s big operation in Chandel, Manipur, 10 militants killed in encounter

Militants Killed In Manipur: Specific intelligence was received about the movement of armed militants near New Samtal village. Acting on this, the Assam Rifles unit launched the operation on May 14, 2025 .

10 militants have been killed in the north-eastern state of Manipur. There was an encounter between Assam Rifles and militants. During this, these militants were killed. Army officials have confirmed the news. The army had received intelligence information about armed militants near New Samtal village on the Myanmar border. After this, the army started action.

The Army’s Eastern Command gave information about the incident on its social media post X. The post read,

Specific intelligence was received about the movement of armed militants near New Samtal village in Khengjoy tehsil of Chandel district near the India-Myanmar border. Acting on this, the Assam Rifles unit launched an operation on May 14, 2025.

The post further stated,

During the operation, the soldiers were fired upon by armed cadres. They also reacted immediately and retaliated in a planned and balanced manner. During this firing, 10 militants were killed. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition has been recovered from them. The operation is still going on.

According to a media report , this campaign is being run across the state against militant organizations in Manipur. Police had said that last week on May 10, at least 13 militants were arrested in a joint operation of security forces and police in Manipur.

A senior police officer told a Media House that the arrested people were active members of banned militant groups. They were also allegedly involved in activities like extortion.
