Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for Japan and China later this month. On August 30, he will participate in the India-Japan annual summit in Japan and after that he will directly go to Tianjin city of China, where he will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit organized from August 31 to September 1, 2025 .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming China visit, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and PM Modi’s phone conversation with Brazilian President Lula da Silva – these three events have come at a time when US President Donald Trump has made strong economic attacks on India. In response to the heavy tariffs imposed by Trump, India has stepped up its diplomatic efforts, which not only sends a tough message but also indicates India’s balanced strategy on the global stage.

Announcement of China visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for Japan and China later this month. On August 30, he will attend the India-Japan annual summit in Japan and then go directly to Tianjin city of China, where he will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held from August 31 to September 1.

This will be PM Modi’s first visit to China after 2019 and his presence on Chinese soil will be recorded for the first time after the Galwan conflict of 2020. Regional terrorism, trade cooperation and multilateral relations will be discussed in the SCO meeting. Earlier, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar have visited China in connection with SCO meetings.

Doval meets Putin

Meanwhile, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin. Both countries agreed to strengthen bilateral strategic partnership. This meeting has taken place at a time when the US has imposed tariffs of up to 50 per cent on goods imported from India. It is believed that this meeting is part of a strategy to deepen the Russia-India partnership and balance US pressure.

PM Modi-Lula talks

Brazilian President Lula da Silva also spoke to PM Modi over the phone. This conversation took place after Trump announced heavy tariffs on India and Brazil. During the conversation, Lula criticized ‘unilateral tariffs’ and talked about maintaining the multilateral system. PM Modi also assured to increase cooperation between the two countries in areas like energy, defense, health, technology and trade.
