Giving information about this surrender, the Union Home Minister wrote, “50 Naxalites in Bijapur gave up the path of violence and surrendered. We welcome those who are now joining the mainstream. Government’s resolve against Naxalism
The Home Minister appealed to the Naxalites to also give up the path of violence and join the mainstream. He said, “Our resolve is that by March 31, 2026, Naxalism will become history in the country.” According to the police officer, 50 Naxalites surrendered in Bijapur on Sunday. Of these, 14 Naxalites had a total reward of Rs 68 lakh on their heads. These Naxalites laid down their arms in front of the state police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officials.
Reason for the surrender of Naxalites
Senior Superintendent of Police of Bijapur Jitendra Kumar Yadav said that these Naxalites surrendered against the Maoist ideology and exploitation of tribals. They also believed that they were impressed by the schemes launched by the security forces to provide basic amenities. Yadav said that out of the 50 Naxalites who surrendered, six had a reward of Rs 8 lakh each on their heads. Three had a reward of Rs 5 lakh each, and five had a reward of Rs 1 lakh each. District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters, Special Task Force (STF), CRPF and Cobra Commando Battalion played an important role in the surrender of these Naxalites. The SP said that as per the government policy, these Naxalites will be rehabilitated so that they can become a part of the society again.
