‘Ajey’, a film based on the life of Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath

Ajey The Untold Story of A Yogi Directed by Ravindra Gautam, the film is inspired by Shantanu Gupta’s book ‘The Monk Who Became Chief Minister’ and is based on the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The film stars Anant Joshi in the lead role along with Paresh Rawal, Dinesh Lal Yadav and Pawan Malhotra.

“Ajay,” a biopic on Yogi Adityanath, who holds the record for the longest tenure as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, was released on Friday September 19, 2025 . The film, based on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who has earned a unique reputation among the nation’s people for his work ethic, was a box office smash on opening day.

The opening show of “Ajay: The Untold Story of a Yogi” was house-full in malls across Uttar Pradesh’s metropolitan areas. Huge crowds gathered everywhere to watch the film, and the youth were seen extremely excited. People eager to see the film’s first show lined up outside theaters. The halls reverberated with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Yogi-Yogi.” The enthusiasm for the film proved that people had long desired to see the personality and life struggles of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on screen.

Audience response has been mixed since its first day of release. Some are calling it inspiring and grand, while others say it lacks political balance and a glimpse of the opposition. Youth in the religious cities of Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Mathura, and Varanasi are experiencing a strong desire to see the film. Members of the Sant Samaj have attended the premiere of Ajay and are showering the film with their blessings.

Ajae’s first show was house-full in most theaters. Those who came out of the first show said the film is not just entertaining but an inspiring story, showing how, even in difficult circumstances, one person can bring about profound change through their determination and dedication. Its opening performance has demonstrated that this film, based on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is deeply touching people’s hearts.

Directed by Ravindra Gautam, the film is inspired by Shantanu Gupta’s book “The Monk Who Became Chief Minister,” which is based on the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Anant Joshi plays the lead role in the film, alongside Paresh Rawal, Dinesh Lal Yadav, and Pawan Malhotra. According to initial reports received at 1 pm, Ajeya has also collected Rs 1 crore.

Born on June 5, 1972, in Panchur village, Uttarakhand, Ajay Singh Bisht lived a disciplined life under difficult circumstances since childhood. While pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Garhwal University, he was drawn to the Gorakhnath Math and took sanyas (renunciation), after which he was given the name Yogi Adityanath. While at the Math, Yogi became a familiar face in eastern Uttar Pradesh, actively involved in social campaigns such as education, health, and cow protection.

Ajeya: The Story of a Saint Becoming Chief Minister

Ajeya, released on September 19, 2025, is based on the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The film tells the story of a young man born in Uttarakhand who is now considered one of the most influential politicians in the country. The film offers a glimpse into the struggles, bold decisions, and strong leadership of a curious young man who, after graduating in science, embraces the life of a saint, and then emerges from the Gorakhpur monastery to lead the country’s largest state.

Yogi Adityanath first became a Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur in 1998 at the age of 26, and subsequently served in the Lok Sabha for five consecutive terms. As a Member of Parliament, he worked to strengthen infrastructure, education, and healthcare in his constituency. After the BJP secured a historic majority in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh elections, he became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. With a landslide victory in the 2022 elections, Yogi Adityanath set a new record by becoming the first Chief Minister of the state to be sworn in for a second term after completing a consecutive five-year term.

Yogi Adityanath’s Administrative Achievements

As Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath focused primarily on strictly improving law and order. He launched initiatives like Operation Clean to curb crime, resulting in Uttar Pradesh being mafia-free today. The organized crime network that existed from Purvanchal to Western UP has now been dismantled. From Mukhtar Ansari to Atiq Ahmed, these are mere vestiges of a bygone era. Yogi’s achievements include the modernisation of the police system, major infrastructure projects like the Purvanchal and Ganga Expressways, the rapid development of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor and the Ayodhya Ram Temple construction, and industrial initiatives like the Global Investors Summit and the Defense Corridor.
