From Tradition to Identity, grand celebration of ‘Aadi Parba-2026’ in Nava Raipur

Raipur: Following the vision and direction of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, a grand celebration of “From Tradition to Identity” – Aadi Parba-2026 will be celebrated on March 13th and 14th, 2026, at the Tribal Research and Training Institute campus in Nava Raipur.
“Aadi Parba-2026” is being organised with the aim of providing a national platform to Chhattisgarh’s rich tribal culture, art, and traditions informed Principal Secretary Sonmony Borah on Wednesday March 11, 2026 in a press conference.
The event will be organised by the Tribal Research and Training Institute under the Tribal Development Department, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. This information was provided by Sonmoni Borah , Principal Secretary of the Tribal Development Department, and Hina Animesh Netam, Director of the Training Institute, during a press conference held at TRTI.
Sonmono Botrah , Principal Secretary of the Tribal Development Department, and Hina Animesh Netam, Director of the Tribal Research and Training Institute, stated in the press conference that “Aadi Parb-2026” is being organised on the vision and direction of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
They stated that under the guidance of Tribal Development Minister Ramvichar Netam, the department is working tirelessly to make this event a successful .
Principal Secretary Borah said that the two-day event will include participation from 43 tribes of Chhattisgarh, as well as tribal communities from Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand. The objective of the event is to promote tribal identity, preservation of cultural heritage, and promotion of traditional knowledge, he added.
For the first time, costumes from 43 tribes will be showcased on one platform.
Principal Secretary Borah informed that as part of this program, the “Aadi-Paridhaan Tribal Attire Show” will be held on March 13th from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm and on March 14th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This event will showcase the traditional costumes and cultural features of 43 tribal communities of the state on a single platform for the first time, Borah affirmed .
These costumes, crafted from natural dyes, local resources, and handmade fabrics, will convey the message of tribal lifestyle and coexistence with nature. 120 participants have registered online to participate.
The message of water, forest, and land through painting in “Aadi Rang”
Principal Secretary Borah also informed in a press conference that “Aadi Rang – Tribal Painting Festival” will also be organised as part of Aadi Parb. In this festival, tribal artists will present issues of water, forest, and land conservation, tribal life philosophy, and environmental challenges through their traditional paintings.
As many as 155 participants have registered online for this program. The painting competition will be held in two categories: 18-30 years and 30 years and older.
The first prize in both categories will be ₹20,000, the second prize ₹15,000, and the third prize ₹10,000. Ten participants from each age group will also receive a consolation prize of ₹2,000.
Tribal Handicrafts and Traditional Cuisine to be Savored at Aadi-Haat
Borah stated that the “Aadi-Haat Tribal Crafts Fair” will also be held during the event, showcasing and selling tribal handicrafts, forest produce, and traditional products from Chhattisgarh. Stalls showcasing handicrafts and traditional cuisine will be set up by 14 groups, allowing visitors to enjoy the traditional flavors of the state, he said .
Tribal youth selected in the UPSC exam will be honored
Principal Secretary Borah noted that during the event, Diamond Singh Dhruv and Ankit Sakni, candidates from the Scheduled Tribe category selected from Chhattisgarh in the Union Public Service Commission Examination 2025 with the support of the Tribal Development Department, will be honored. Laptops will also be distributed to students of the Prayas Institute under departmental programs, Principal Secretary Borah affirmed.
