A major operation by security forces in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, four Naxalites with a bounty of Rs 17 lakh killed, two women also included

Security forces have achieved a major success in the anti-Naxal operation in Bijapur. The encounter that started on Saturday evening in the border forests of Basaguda and Gangalur police station area continued till Sunday afternoon, in which 4 hardcore Naxalites were killed. There was a total bounty of Rs 17 lakh on them.

Bijapur Naxals Encounter: Security forces have achieved a major success in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. Four Naxalites, including two women, carrying a bounty of Rs 17 lakh, have been killed. An encounter was going on between security forces and Naxalites since yesterday (Saturday) evening. The encounter continued till Sunday afternoon and they were disarmed.

Four Maoists of South Sub Zonal Bureau killed

Security forces started a search operation based on information about the presence of Maoists in the border forests of Basaguda and Gangalur police station in the south-western region of Bijapur district. Four Maoists of South Sub Zonal Bureau were killed in the encounter,

Large quantity of arms and explosives recovered

A large quantity of explosives including an SLR, an INSAS, a 303 rifle, a 12 bore gun, BGL launcher, single shot weapons and other Naxal related items were recovered from the encounter site.

Search operation conducted on the basis of reliable information

Bijapur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Yadav said that a search operation was conducted by the DRG Bijapur team based on reliable information about the activities of Maoist cadres in the south-west region of the district.

The encounter was going on since the evening of 26 July

During the operation, intermittent encounters took place between the police force and the Maoists on the evening of 26 July 2025. Large quantity of arms and material were recovered during the search of the site after the encounter.

*Nihal alias Rahul, party member (Santosh, guard of Bureau Communication Team Head) — Government announces reward of Rs 2 lakh.

Effect of security forces’ strategy: 425 Naxalites killed in 19 months

Inspector General of Police Bastar Range Sundarraj P. said that taking forward the decisive lead gained in the year 2024, in the year 2025 also, intensive and continuous campaigns are being conducted by the security forces against the banned and illegal CPI (Maoist) organization in Bastar division. Under these operations, bodies of 425 hardcore Maoists have been recovered from January 2024 to July 2025. This is a proof of the effective strategy, bold action and public support of the security forces.

The courage of the security forces even in the challenging monsoon

The Inspector General of Police specifically mentioned that the difficult conditions of monsoon—incessant rains, inaccessible forest-mountainous terrain and risky routes—could not reduce the morale and commitment of the security forces. All the forces are performing their duties with full dedication despite difficult geographical and weather challenges
