In a major breakthrough following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, security forces on Friday killed top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander
Altaf Lalli during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Acting on specific intelligence, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police early Friday April 25, 2025 morning, according to reports.

Upon making contact with the terrorists, a fierce gunfight ensued. One terrorist was killed, while two security personnel sustained injuries. The encounter marks the first major success in the ongoing security crackdown to hunt down those involved in the Pahalgam attack that claimed 28 lives, including several tourists and a Nepali national. Security agencies continue to intensify efforts to track down both Pakistani and local militants linked to the incident.
