This network sends Indians to America illegally in the name of getting them fake admission in Canadian colleges.

This network sends Indians to America illegally in the name of getting fake admission in Canadian colleges. Students visas are made for Indians and they are sent to Canada. After this, the Canada-US border is crossed. Now the agency has also started investigating more than eight thousand such transactions, which are related to foreign countries. Some international financial companies have also come forward in this case which help in sending money abroad.
In fact, a US Air Force plane carrying 104 non-resident Indians from America landed in Amritsar recently. After this, discussions started about those going to America illegally. ED officials said that four members of a family from Gujarat died while crossing Canada-US. After this the matter came to light and in 2023 the Crime Branch of Gujarat Police registered an FIR. After this, the ED started an investigation into the complicity of Canadian colleges and Indian institutions in the money laundering case related to smuggling of Indians from Canada to the US border.
Officials said that during the investigation it has come to light that there is a large network of agents in Canada, India and the US, which helps Indians who have come through fake admission in Canadian colleges to enter the US, their stay, visa management and resolve other legal issues. One of its agents is also Fenil Kantilal Patel, who lives in Canada.
Gujarat students made 8500 transactions in three years
ED officials said that fees are sent to Canadian colleges through a financial service provider company. Gujarat students have made 8500 such transactions from September 7, 2021 to August 9, 2024. In this, there are 4300 transactions which are duplicate or have been done by the same person. ED suspects that about 370 people have gone to the US through this illegal immigration method. Statements of parents and guardians of students studying in Canada have been recorded and investigation is underway.
Understand how the gang worked
According to the ED, it is alleged that Patel and others conspired to send Indians to the US via Canada illegally. He arranged for people to get admission in colleges and universities located in Canada. Once people reach Canada, instead of taking admission in college, they are made to cross the US-Canada border. Never joined college. Under this racket, Rs 55 to 60 lakh is charged from each person.
ED had conducted raids
ED had conducted searches in Mumbai, Nagpur, Gandhinagar and Vadodara on 10 and 19 December, 2024 . Where it was found that two institutions were working on commission for the admission of Indians abroad. One of these institutions is located in Mumbai and the other in Nagpur. Apart from this, ED also found that there are more than 1,700 agents in Gujarat and 3,500 agents across India, out of which more than 800 henchmen are active. Who are helping in sending Indian citizens to Canada and America. 112 colleges of Canada have tied up with one institution and more than 150 with another institution. The Enforcement Directorate, while investigating the money laundering case related to smuggling of Indians from the Canadian border, found that 262 Canadian colleges had tied up with two Indian gangs involved in human trafficking.
