New Delhi: BJP leaders performed a puja and havan at the party’s national headquarters on Sunday, 8 November 2026, to mark Lal Krishna Advani’s 99th birthday and pray for his good health. BJP national president Nitin Nabin and Advani’s daughter, Pratibha Advani, attended the gathering, which coincided with Diwali.

After the ceremony, the party screened a 20-minute video featuring excerpts from Advani’s speeches and milestones from his career. The programme looked back on his role in building the BJP and his work with successive generations of party workers.

Born in Karachi on 8 November 1927, Advani entered his 100th year on Sunday. He served three terms as BJP president and held the posts of Union Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government. President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Bharat Ratna on him at his New Delhi residence in March 2024.
