TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha said Uniform Civil Code is the need of the country! Demand to ban non-vegetarian food too

Shatrughan Sinha, Lok Sabha MP from Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress, has said that Uniform Civil Code (UCC) should be implemented across the country. But first, discussions are necessary on this. He has also strongly advocated beef ban and total non-veg ban.

Shatrughan Sinha’s statement has come when the process of implementing the Uniform Civil Code has started in Gujarat as well. A committee has been formed to draft the UCC in Gujarat. It will be headed by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Desai. Ranjana Desai has drafted the UCC implemented in Uttarakhand.

TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha, while talking to ANI outside Parliament, said, “What has happened in Uttarakhand, prima facie we all say is commendable… Uniform Civil Code should be there, it should be there in any country and all the countrymen will agree to this.”

However, the TMC MP said that there are many complications in the UCC which need to be resolved. He said that it is important to take care of many people and many sections in the UCC. It should not seem that you are implementing it for votes or elections.

Raising the issue of beef ban, Shatrughan Sinha said that it has been banned in many places and it is right. He said, “If you ask me, beef ban is right and why only beef ban, non-veg should be banned in the entire country. This is my opinion.”

Discussing the Uniform Civil Code, Shatrughan Sinha said that there are many complications in the UCC. There should be an all-party meeting to discuss it. Everyone’s opinion should be taken. And it should not be seen from the point of view of elections or votes. It should be done with caution and understanding.

The TMC MP said that if it is implemented with caution and after discussion, it will have positive results. It is worth noting that Shatrughan Sinha was earlier a BJP leader. But after a long distance from the BJP leadership, he joined the Congress party in April 2019. In March 2022, he joined the Trinamool Congress. In the by-election held on the Asansol Lok Sabha seat in April 2022, he defeated the BJP. Then in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he won from the Asansol seat on a TMC ticket.
