According to the department, the food licences of Khatri Sweets in Birgaon, Laxmi Food Products—operating as Bread Basket—in Samta Colony, and Agrawal Mithai Wala were suspended with immediate effect after serious irregularities were detected.
All three establishments have been directed to remain closed until they meet the prescribed hygiene standards.
The inspection teams also carried out the destruction and seizure of food stocks and collected samples of several products for laboratory examination.
Rats found at bread manufacturing premises
At Laxmi Food Products in Samta Colony, officials reported unhygienic conditions in the bread manufacturing area and substantial cleanliness deficiencies in the storeroom.
According to the department, several rats were seen moving inside the premises, raising concerns over the conditions in which food was being manufactured and stored.

The team ordered the destruction of approximately 80 kg of assorted bread after finding that the unit was not complying with prescribed hygiene requirements.
The establishment was among the three whose food licences were suspended during the drive.
Nearly 4.8 tonnes of sweets seized from unlicensed firm
In a separate inspection, Krishna Sweets in Kamal Vihar was found operating without a food licence, the department stated. The establishment was engaged in trading various types of packaged sweets.
Officials collected samples of kunda and Mysore pak for laboratory testing. They also seized 4,792 kg of sweets, comprising 720 kg of products described in the departmental statement as “Delicious Sweets”, 112 kg of Mysore pak and 3,960 kg of kunda.
The seizure and sample collection form part of the department’s investigation. Further statutory action will be determined by the laboratory findings and the violations established during the proceedings.
Closure to continue until hygiene standards are met
Controller Deepak Agrawal emphasised that failure to comply with food safety standards attracts departmental action.
“The three establishments whose licences have been suspended will remain closed until they fully comply with hygiene norms,” Agrawal said.
He added that further legal action would be taken on the basis of laboratory reports on the samples collected.
The department’s action focused on both the conditions in which food was being prepared and stored and whether establishments held the necessary licence to conduct their operations.
