HPCL stated that the temporary rise in customer footfall and queues at some outlets was mainly due to seasonal demand during May

New Delhi: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) on Wednesday dismissed reports of fuel shortages and supply disruptions across its retail network, assuring customers that fuel supply and operations remain normal.

In a post on X amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, HPCL termed the reports “misleading” and said they do not reflect the actual situation.

“Fuel supply at HPCL’s retail outlets is completely normal, with regular replenishment and uninterrupted operations being ensured,” the company said.

HPCL stated that the temporary rise in customer footfall and queues at some outlets was mainly due to seasonal demand during May and customers shifting to HPCL pumps because of relatively higher prices at some private retail outlets.

“Higher-than-normal sales are being recorded at some outlets. However, adequate stock is available, and the supply system is functioning smoothly,” the company added.

The company urged consumers not to indulge in panic buying and advised them to rely only on official sources for accurate information.

In a separate clarification regarding reports of fuel shortage in Maharashtra’s Nandurbar district, including claims of “No Petrol” and “No Diesel” boards at pumps, HPCL called the reports “false and misleading.”

The company said all 87 retail outlets in the district are operational and continuously serving customers without disruption.

Sharing fuel sales data till May 19, 2026, HPCL said petrol sales in Nandurbar stood at 5,254 KL compared to the historical average of 4,539 KL, registering a growth of 15.8 per cent.

Diesel sales reached 15,656 KL against the historical average of 12,933 KL, marking a growth of 21.1 per cent.

HPCL said the figures clearly indicate stable fuel availability and smooth functioning of the supply network across the district.

The company once again appealed to customers not to be influenced by rumours and reiterated its commitment to uninterrupted fuel supply and seamless customer service.
