Raipur: The ‘Prayas’ residential schools—operated by Chhattisgarh’s Department of Tribal, Scheduled Caste, Other Backward Class, and Minority Development—have achieved unprecedented success in this year’s Class 10 and 12 Board examinations conducted by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education. By doing so, they have set a remarkable precedent not only at the state level but also at the national level.

Under the continuous support and guidance of the Department—and despite limited resources and challenging circumstances—students from these schools have delivered outstanding results, giving stiff competition to major private schools. In a significant achievement, 13 students from the ‘Prayas’ schools have successfully secured positions within the top 10 ranks of the CG Board examinations.

It is worth mentioning that the Chhattisgarh government currently operates a total of 17 ‘Prayas’ schools. These institutions provide education to students from all sections of society, including those from Naxal-affected regions.

Through the ‘Prayas’ residential schools, students have found renewed hope and encouragement, which is proving instrumental in helping them realize their dreams. It is worth mentioning that the education provided to students through the ‘Prayas’ schools is completely free of cost. Furthermore, students receive coaching from high-caliber institutions to prepare for competitive examinations such as NIT, IIT, NEET, JEE, and various other national and state-level entrance tests.

In recognition of this success achieved by the ‘Prayas’ schools, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has extended his congratulations and best wishes to the students, as well as to the departmental officials and staff—including Minister for Tribal Development Ramvichar Netam, Minister for Scheduled Caste Development Guru Khushwant Saheb, Minister for Backward Class and Minority Welfare Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, and the Department’s Principal Secretary Sonmani Bora.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his delight at this achievement by the students and extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to them. He stated that this success validates the significance of the ‘Prayas’ residential school concept. Ramvichar Netam, Minister for Tribal Development, lauded the sustained efforts undertaken to ensure the provision of quality education.

This achievement by the students of the Prayas residential schools is a matter of pride for the state and will serve as a source of inspiration for other students.

Principal Secretary Sonmani Bora noted that, despite limited resources, the students of the Prayas schools have delivered an outstanding performance in the CG Board examinations. The department consistently encourages the provision of moral and behavioral education to the children, alongside their academic studies. He remarked that for a tribal-majority state like Chhattisgarh, this achievement is not merely a matter of pride; it also demonstrates that with the right guidance, dedication, and opportunity, talent can overcome any obstacle. This success is emerging as an inspiring model in the field of education, garnering appreciation across the entire nation.

During a meeting of the Tribal Advisory Council, Principal Secretary Bora informed Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai that out of the top 50 merit-holding students in the state, 13 belong to the Prayas schools. Expressing his pleasure at this news, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai urged them to strive for even greater excellence in the future.

Sonmoni Bora further reported that in the Higher Secondary Examination (Class 12), a total of 128 students from the Prayas residential schools passed with a First Division. At the Prayas residential school located in Gudhiyari, Raipur, 19 female students secured marks exceeding 90 percent.

Ragini Kanwar, a student from Korba district, secured the top position within the school by scoring 95 percent marks. A particularly noteworthy achievement was recorded in the Biology subject, where two female students secured a perfect score of 100 out of 100.

The students’ performance in the High School Examination (Class 10) was also highly commendable. Out of a total of 119 female students, 48 secured marks exceeding 90 percent. In the subject of Mathematics, six students achieved a perfect score of 100 percent. Deepanshi secured the second position in the state by obtaining 98.83 percent marks. Students from the ‘Prayas’ residential schools—catering to the Scheduled Caste category—also earned a spot in the top 10 merit list with 97.5 percent marks.

Notably, out of the total 42 students featured in the High School examination merit list, 21 belong to the ‘Eklavya’ and ‘Prayas’ residential schools operated by the Department of Tribal Development. Among these, 11 students from the Prayas residential schools have secured a place, a feat that underscores the success of the department’s initiatives.
