PM Appeals to People to Take 9 Pledges on Health, Conservation of Nature, Service, Others

Bengaluru : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday April 15 , 2026 advocated 9 resolutions such as water conservation, planting saplings/environment, maintenance of cleanliness, domestic tourism, embracing indigenous products, usage of millets, practice of yoga/sports to be fit and rendering service for the needy to reach the goal of “Vikasit Karnataka (a developed Karnataka)” and “Vikasit Bharat (a developed India)” faster.
The PM was talking at a function held at the Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Nagamangala of Mandya.
Elaborating on the 9 steps he advocated, Modi said people of Mandya know the value of water conservation better than other districts of the state. The district is blessed by river Cauvery and a resolution is needed for water conservation and better utilization of water, he said. The PM urged everyone to plant a sapling in the name of their mother to save Mother Earth from destruction.
Modi asked people to attach cleanliness whether in devotional places/cities or rural areas and stressed that all areas need to be maintained cleanly. The Prime Minister wanted a “collective leadership” to maintain cleanliness at all costs.
The people should embrace products made in India which are needed to strengthen the country, Modi said, and asked the people to travel to every nook and corner of the country to encourage domestic tourism. In an appeal particularly to the farmers in Mandya, Narendra Modi asked them to practice agriculture free from chemicals.
Referring to former Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda, Narendra Modi said that Devegowda popularized ragi balls (finger millet) usage and wanted youths to include use of millets in their diet. He termed obesity a challenge for the country to deal with and appealed to people to cut down use of oil by 10 percent to fight obesity. Modi asked people to practice yoga/sports to be part of everyday life to keep their fitness levels high. Modi wanted service for the needy.
Lauding the services rendered by Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Narendra Modi, the Mutt has been a centre of spiritual and technological abundance. The Mutt was appreciated for its legacy of about 2,000 years and continuing to service the society in technology, spiritually, moral values and guiding the society.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot Union Minister of Large Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy, Leader of Opposition R. Ashok, Minister of Agriculture N. Cheluvarayaswamy, Adichuchanagiri mutt pontiff Niramalanandanatha Swamji among others were present.
