‘Gaura’ – National Visual Arts Exhibition

Raipur: Welcome to ‘Gaura’. May this exhibition serve as a source of joy, inspiration, and contemplation for all who visit. Organised by the Chhattisgarh Progressive Artist Group (CGPAG), the third visual arts exhibition—titled ‘Gaura’—is being held from April 10 to April 12, 2026, at the Art Gallery situated near the Mahant Ghasidas Museum and Raj Bhavan in Raipur.

This prestigious exhibition will showcase the artworks of 100 renowned artists from across the country on a single platform. The event will also feature the participation of four distinguished guest artists.

The exhibition was inaugurated on April 10, 2026, by the Chief Guest, Guru Khushwant (Minister of Technical Education, Government of Chhattisgarh), and distinguished guests—Dr. Chittaranjan Kar (Author, Raipur) and Ved Prakash Bhardwaj (Visual Artist, Art Writer, Curator, and Editor, New Delhi)—who have graced the occasion with their presence.

Following the inauguration, the exhibition will remained open to the public. The ‘Gaura’ exhibition is a celebration of the diversity, creativity, and expression inherent in contemporary Indian art. It offers art enthusiasts, students, and the general public a unique opportunity to view and appreciate the works of artists hailing from various parts of the country.

Guru Khushwant, Minister of Technical Education (Government of Chhattisgarh), stated: “It gives me immense pleasure and pride to welcome you to ‘Gaura’—the inaugural exhibition of the CGPAG—which serves as a celebration of Chhattisgarh’s vibrant and diverse artistic spirit.

This exhibition marks a significant milestone, as it brings together 100 progressive artists from our region, each of whom has contributed their unique vision and creativity to the canvas of our cultural landscape.”

Dr. Dhruv Tiwari—Curator, Chhattisgarh Progressive Artist Group (CGPAG), Raipur—remarked: “Art has always been a powerful medium for expression, reflection, and transformation.” Through ‘Gaura’, our objective is to showcase the rich tapestry of artistic talent present in Chhattisgarh, providing a platform for our artists to share their stories, dreams, and perspectives with the world. This exhibition is not merely a display of artworks; it is a dialogue—a conversation between the artist and the viewer—inviting you to explore, interpret, and connect with the artworks on a personal level.

The works presented here stand as a testament to the resilience, innovation, and passion of the artists.

Within the organisational structure of the Chhattisgarh Professional Artists Group (CGPAG) at the Ghasidas Museum Art Gallery in Raipur, Dr. Dhruv Tiwari served as Curator, Jiten Sahu as Coordinator, Shanti Tirkey as Associate Coordinator, and Anil Khobragade played an active role as Treasurer.

The works presented here stand as a testament to the resilience, innovation, and passion of our artists. They capture the essence of our times, addressing themes that resonate with our collective consciousness—identity, heritage, the environment, and the human experience. Each piece serves as a window into the soul of its creator, offering insights and emotions that transcend words.

I hope that this exhibition ignites a spark of curiosity and appreciation for art within each of you, forging a deeper connection with our cultural heritage and the creative spirit that defines us.” Dr. Dhruv Tiwari stated, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the artists who contributed their works to this exhibition, as well as to the organisers, sponsors, and supporters who made ‘Gaura’ possible.
