Raipur (Pragati College ): A three-day workshop aimed at fostering skill and professional development was organised at Pragati College, Choubey Colony, Raipur recently . The program’s keynote speaker was Nivedita Panda.

The event commenced with a traditional prayer ceremony and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp before the Goddess Saraswati . Principal of the College Dr. Soumya Nayyar in her inaugural address said that the primary objective of this program is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical professional skills, thereby enabling students to gain hands-on experience with modern artistic techniques and professional nuances.

On the first day of the workshop, the instructor, Nivedita Panda, taught the art of “Mug Art”—transforming ordinary mugs into artistic pieces suitable for use as gifts or decorative items.

On the second day, participants were taught how to execute traditional Meenakari (enamel work) on metal and wood using modern techniques.

This session covered the intricate methods of filling in colors and bringing designs to life, with the aim of ensuring that Indian art and traditions remain relevant amidst growing modernisation.

On the third day of the workshop, methods for creating attractive and customised nameplates were demonstrated. This currently stands as a popular entrepreneurial avenue, offering students the opportunity to create items suitable for use in both homes and offices.

Through the creation of these small artistic pieces, students can potentially launch their own startups or small-scale businesses. Throughout the entire session, Nivedita Panda provided guidance and insights; the students, in turn, participated in the workshop with great enthusiasm.

On the final day of the workshop, an exhibition showcasing all these handmade items was also organised.

The program was anchored by Dr. Gunjan Sharma, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Asst . Professor Upasana Srivastava.

Present on this occasion were College Principal Dr. Soumya Nayyar ,Head of the Department of Education Dr. K.N. Gajpal, Administrator Ms. Jyoti Thakur, along with the entire faculty and students of the Education Department .
