A two-day long Annual Sports festival of Pragati College” Concludes

Raipur(Pragati College) : As is the tradition every year, Pragati College’s two-day long sports festival was held on January 29th and 30th, 2026. The festival included competitions in badminton, table tennis, carrom, and other indoor games.

Principal Dr. Soumya Nayyar in her inaugural address, emphasised the importance of sports and games in human life. She stated that competition is an essential part of human life; without it, life becomes monotonous. Therefore, competition is crucial, and one should participate in any competition with full dedication and enthusiasm, regardless of the outcome. Participation in sports is more important than winning or losing, Principal added.

Dr. Soumya Nayyar encouraged all the players to maintain discipline and play with true sportsmanship. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of sports and health, stating that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body, and sports are essential for a healthy body. Sports contribute to the all-round development of students. While sports teach discipline, they also develop leadership qualities, she said .

In the annual sports festival, Om Basak, a B.Com. I year student, won the men’s singles badminton competition, while A.D. Ashish, a BCA III year student, was the runner-up. In the men’s doubles badminton competition, the pair of A.D. Ashish (BCA III year) and Yuvraj Sahu (B.Sc. III year) emerged victorious, while the pair of Om Basak (B.Com. I year) and Akash Lalwani (BCA I year) were the runners-up.

In the women’s badminton competition, Priya Jha (D.EL.ED. II year) was the winner, and Trisha Nayak (B.Sc. II year) was the runner-up. In the women’s doubles, the pair of Trisha Nayak (B.Sc. II year) and Garima Sahu (B.Com. II year) won, while the pair of Priya Jha (D.EL.ED. II year) and Radha (B.Ed. I year) were the runners-up.

In the chess competition, Yuvraj Sahu (B.Sc. III year) was the winner and Sushil Daunde (BCA II year) was the runner-up in the men’s category. In the women’s category, Nandini Sahu (D.EL.ED. I year) was the winner and Priya Jha (D.EL.ED. II year) was the runner-up

In the table tennis competition, Naveen Bharti (B.Sc. II year) was the winner and Yuvraj Sahu (B.Sc. III year) was the runner-up in the men’s singles category. In the women’s singles category of the table tennis competition, Trisha Nayak (B.Sc. II year) was the winner and Mansi Sahu (B.Sc. III year) was the runner-up.

In the carrom competition, Satyakam Soni (B.Sc. I year) was the winner and Rohan Bagh (BCA II year) was the runner-up in the men’s singles category.

In the men’s doubles category of the carrom competition, the pair of Rohan Bagh (BCA III year) and Amit Ratre (D.EL.ED. I year) were the winners, and the pair of Satyakam Soni (B.Sc. I year) and Sujal Chauhan (B.Sc. I year) were the runners-ups.

In the women’s singles category of the carrom competition, Nandini Sahu (D.EL.ED. I year) was the winner and Garima Sahu (B.Com. II year) was the runner-up. In the women’s doubles category, the pair of Nandini Sahu (D.EL.ED. I year) and T. Sangeeta (D.EL.ED. I year) were the winners, and the pair of Garima Sahu (B.Com. II year) and Ekta (B.ED. I year) were the runner-ups.

The prize distribution ceremony for the annual sports festival will be held during the cultural program (Jazz Session) at Pragati College in the coming days.
The college principal , sports officer Adarsh Mishra , along with all the staff and students, were present at the event.
