Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, reacting to the Union Budget 2026-27 here in Sunday February 1, 2026 said that this budget is a historic document towards a golden and developed future for India. This is the first budget prepared in Kartavya Bhavan, which focuses on the overall development of the country and the welfare of every citizen, keeping in mind three key responsibilities: economic development and employment growth, fulfilling the aspirations of the people, and ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (Together with all, development for all).

The Chief Minister said that this budget, presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman under the leadership of the illustrious Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will prove to be a milestone for the upliftment of the poor, farmers, youth, women, middle class, and working class. He said that states like Chhattisgarh will directly benefit from this budget, the CM affirmed .

Strengthening Agriculture and Rural Economy

The budget has taken several important steps to increase farmers’ income and strengthen the rural economy. Plans have been made to increase agricultural productivity through AI and modern technology, and to promote animal husbandry and the dairy industry. Additionally, under the Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj initiative, new employment opportunities will be created for villagers by promoting local industries and handicrafts, Chief Minister added .

New Employment Opportunities for Youth

The Chief Minister said that this budget places special emphasis on job creation for the youth. New opportunities will be created in sectors such as startups, MSMEs, manufacturing, and tourism. Promoting tourism will accelerate local economic development and provide employment to young people in their own regions. Foreign travel and studying abroad will also become more affordable, he noted .

Historic Initiatives in the Health Sector

Describing the budget as historic for the health sector, the Chief Minister said that a provision of Rs. 10,000 crore has been made for the biopharma sector, which will make medicines for cancer, diabetes, and other serious diseases more affordable. Upgradation of district hospitals, establishment of emergency and trauma centers in every district, promotion of mental health and Ayurvedic medicine, and the establishment of five regional hubs in states for medical tourism are also planned.

This will improve the standard of healthcare services across the country, including Chhattisgarh, and will also create new employment opportunities, Sai added.

New Direction for Women’s Empowerment

The expansion of the Lakhpati Didi Yojana (Millionaire Sister Scheme) will provide women with access to credit-linked self-employment, entrepreneurship, and connections to local markets. In addition, the announcement of the construction of hostels for girls in every district will support their pursuit of higher education.

Promotion of Industry, Education, and Sports

To strengthen the country’s economy, seven high-speed rail corridors, 20 new waterways, large textile parks, and mineral corridors in four states have been announced. An investment of ₹40,000 crore in the Semiconductor Mission will give a new impetus to industrial development and employment. The Khelo India Mission and reforms in the education sector will provide better opportunities for children and youth, the CM said .

Tax Reforms and Relief for the Common Man

The income tax process has been simplified, and easier provisions have been made for small taxpayers. Many everyday items, including medicines, clothes, shoes, mobile phones, EV batteries, solar equipment, and biogas-CNG, will become cheaper, providing direct relief to the common people.

Finally, the Chief Minister said that the Union Budget 2026-27 further strengthens the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas aur Sabka Vishwas” (Together with all, Development for all, Efforts by all, and Trust of all).

This budget will ensure inclusive development across the country, including Chhattisgarh. On behalf of the people of Chhattisgarh, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for this historic, development-oriented, and welfare-focused budget, CM Sai noted .
