Raipur: In a significant step toward transforming Nava Raipur into one of India’s leading healthcare destinations, the Government of Chhattisgarh marked a major milestone with the signing of a land lease agreement for a flagship super-specialty hospital project.
In the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, a lease agreement for 15 acres of land was formally signed between the Bombay Hospital and Medical Research Centre and the Nava Raipur Development Authority at the state secretariat, Mahanadi Bhavan.
The agreement is expected to accelerate the long-envisioned development of a dedicated Medicity in Nava Raipur.
The project underlines not only the state’s expanding healthcare infrastructure but also Chhattisgarh’s increasingly swift and reliable administrative processes. Following the issuance of an investment invitation on September 24, 2025, the state completed land identification, statutory approvals, and registration within just four months—an unusually rapid turnaround that officials described as a new administrative benchmark.
On the allotted 15 acres, the Bombay Hospital Trust will invest approximately ₹680 crore to establish a 300-bed, state-of-the-art multi super-specialty hospital.
The facility will be the Trust’s fourth super-specialty hospital in India, following its established centres in Mumbai, Indore, and Jaipur.
Once operational, the hospital will offer advanced medical services across a wide spectrum, including cardiac sciences, cancer care, neurology, orthopaedics, critical care, and organ transplantation.
The initiative is expected to significantly reduce the need for patients from Chhattisgarh and neighbouring states to travel to metropolitan centres such as Mumbai or Delhi for advanced treatment.
The project is also anticipated to generate substantial employment. Officials estimate more than 500 direct jobs, encompassing doctors, surgeons, nurses, paramedical staff, and medical technicians.
In addition, large-scale indirect employment is expected across healthcare supply chains and allied services, providing a notable boost to the local economy.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the establishment of Bombay Hospital marks a decisive step toward realising the Medicity vision for Nava Raipur.
He noted that the project would ensure access to world-class super-specialty healthcare within the state while simultaneously creating high-quality employment opportunities for the youth, Sai said .
The Chief Minister added that the state government remains firmly committed to expanding healthcare infrastructure and basic medical facilities. The decision by a reputed institution such as Bombay Hospital to invest in Nava Raipur, he said, reflects confidence in Chhattisgarh’s policy stability, fast decision-making, and investor-friendly environment.
The initiative is being implemented under the Chhattisgarh Industrial Development Policy 2024–30, which provides targeted incentives for strategic sectors such as healthcare and emphasises time-bound execution. Officials believe the project will play a key role in positioning Nava Raipur as a premier healthcare destination for Central India.
The signing ceremony was attended by Subodh Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister; Rajat Kumar, Secretary, Industries Department; Ankit Anand, Secretary, Housing and Environment Department; Chandan Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Nava Raipur Development Authority; Bharat Tapadia, Trustee and Chairman, Bombay Hospital Trust; Shyam Ji, Secretary of the Trust; along with other senior officials from the Trust and the state government.
