Raipur: Under the Public Distribution System, food grains are currently being distributed to ration cardholders through Aadhaar-based authentication using e-POS machines. Beneficiaries receive their rations after biometric verification, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Ensuring that food grains reach only the genuinely eligible beneficiaries is a priority for the state government.
The Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection has constituted teams of officers for regular monitoring of fair price shops. These teams conducted inspections and investigations of various fair price shops.
During the inspection, the distribution process, record keeping, and the status of Aadhaar authentication were specifically examined.
During the investigation, irregularities were found in some fair price shops. Taking these irregularities seriously, strict action has been taken against the concerned shop operators as per the controlling provisions. The government’s intention is to not tolerate any kind of negligence or irregularity in the public distribution system.
The Food Controller, District Raipur, has terminated the operating licenses of shop ID number 441001314 “Maa Bhagwati Food Security Nutrition and Consumer Cooperative Society, Bairon Bazaar” and ID number 441001256 “Shri Jai Sheetla Kali Food Security Nutrition and Consumer Service Cooperative Society, Badhaipara” and attached them to other fair price shops.
In addition, shop ID number 441001148 “Dudhadhari Mahila Primary Cooperative Consumer Store, Mahamaya Temple Ward No. 62” has been fined ₹7000 and given a stern warning for the irregularities found.
Food Secretary Reena Babasaheb Kangale stated that strict and necessary action is taken under the provisions of the Chhattisgarh Public Distribution System (Control) Order, 2016, if any irregularity is found in the distribution of food grains at any fair price shop in the state under the Public Distribution System.
The state government is fully committed to a transparent, accountable, and beneficiary-centric food grain distribution system.
