Passenger plane and coast guard plane collide in Japan
A fierce collision between a passenger plane and a coast guard plane also took place in the month of January , 2024 at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. After this collision, a Japan Airlines plane caught fire. There were 367 passengers and 12 crew members in it. However, everyone was rescued safely. But five out of the six crew members of the coast guard plane died.

The four-lane Francis Scott Key bridge on the Patapsco River collapsed after colliding with a cargo ship – MV Dali on March 21 in Baltimore, USA. The ship of Grace Ocean Private Limited was going from Baltimore, USA to Colombo, Sri Lanka. In this incident, the 2.6 km long Francis Scott Key bridge collapsed in a few seconds. According to the information, there was an electrical problem in the cargo ship, while a total of six people died in this accident. While all the crew members, including the two pilots on this ship, did not suffer any injuries.

On April 3, 2024 a powerful earthquake of 7.4 magnitude hit Taiwan. After this earthquake, a tsunami warning was also issued in South Japan and Philippines. According to information, 681 more tremors were felt after the massive earthquake. Whereas before this, in the year 1999, an earthquake of 7.6 magnitude hit Taiwan, in which 2400 people died and more than 10 thousand were injured.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter crashed due to bad weather. President Ibrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian, East Azerbaijan Province Governor Malek Rahmati, Tabriz’s Shahi Imam Mohammad Ali Alhashem as well as a pilot, co-pilot, crew chief, security chief and a security guard were on board the accident. According to the information, there were three helicopters in the Iranian President’s convoy and two of these helicopters landed safely at their destination. According to reports, the pilot lost control of the helicopter, due to which the accident happened. The helicopter met with an accident while crossing the mountainous area in dense fog. The accident took place near the Azerbaijani border city of Jolfa, which is 600 km from Iran’s capital Tehran.

Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima and nine others died in a plane crash. The plane crash was confirmed by Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera himself. Earlier it was reported that the plane carrying Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima and nine others suddenly disappeared from the radar and has been missing since then. After a search that lasted for more than a day, the wreckage of the military plane carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima was found in a hilly area in the northern part of the country. Before Saulos Chilima’s plane went missing, it was on a 45-minute flight from the southern African country’s capital Lilongwe to the city of Mzuzu, 370 kilometers (230 miles) north. According to the information, the plane was asked to return due to bad weather and poor visibility.

On 24th July, a Shourya Airlines plane crashed while flying to Pokhara at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. 18 people died in this accident. Pilot Captain M. Shakya was seriously injured in this accident. The plane took off from Tribhuvan Airport at around 11 am. It crashed shortly after that. The 9N-AME plane belonged to Shourya Airlines. Out of the people killed in the accident, 17 were staff of Shourya Airlines, while the rest two were crew members. This 21-year-old plane was being taken for testing after repair.

According to a report, a total of 71 people died in 2024 due to the devastating floods in Bangladesh. In this, millions of people were stranded in one place for several months and also fell victim to many waterborne diseases. The floods caused by continuous monsoon rains and the flow of water from the upper rivers caused widespread devastation across Bangladesh, affecting about five million people. According to an information, more than 5,80,000 families in 11 affected districts suffered the brunt of the floods during this disaster in Bangladesh. It was termed as the biggest flood crisis in the recent history of Bangladesh.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas is decades old, but in 2024 it caused widespread devastation. The conflict, which began in October 2023, took the form of a major war by the next year, in which Hezbollah also intervened.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a major attack on Israel, which is remembered as ‘Black Saturday’. More than 1200 Israeli civilians were killed and hundreds were taken hostage in rocket and ground attacks from Gaza. In response, Israel launched large-scale air and ground attacks on Gaza, killing thousands of Palestinian civilians.
Hezbollah intervention
In early 2024, Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, launched rocket attacks on northern areas of Israel. Hezbollah escalated this war, creating a multi-front war. Israel intensified air strikes on southern Lebanon in response. Israeli attacks in Gaza displaced millions of people and killed thousands. Hezbollah attacks in northern parts of Israel also affected civilians on a large scale.

Big attack on Hezbollah due to pager explosion
On 17 September 2024, Israel carried out its major attack, in which thousands of pagers exploded in Lebanon, in which many Hezbollah fighters were killed and hundreds were injured. Hezbollah fighters used pagers so that Israel could not get Hezbollah’s intelligence information. The very next day there were more explosions in Beirut, in which Hezbollah fighters were targeted by exploding radios and walkie-talkies. In this explosion too, many Hezbollah fighters were killed and hundreds were injured. Due to these two big explosions, Hezbollah’s communication system was completely destroyed. According to Israel, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and head of Hezbollah’s southern front Ali Karaki and many other commanders were killed in this attack. A day after this, the Israeli army killed Hezbollah commander Nabil Kaouk.

After this, on September 30, Israel started a ground operation in Lebanon. On October 3, Israel once again attacked Beirut in which Nasrallah’s successor Hashim Safieddin was also killed. After the death of many of its prominent leaders in about two weeks, Hezbollah intensified its attacks on Israel and started attacking Israel with more than 200 missiles and rockets every day.
Ceasefire of war announced on November 27!
After about 14 months of war, Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a ceasefire. A 60-day ceasefire has also been implemented between the two. On November 27, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a ceasefire. Now it remains to be seen whether Israel and Hezbollah will maintain this ceasefire after two months or both sides will declare war once again.

Cyclone Chido has wreaked havoc on the French island of Mayotte in the last month of 2024 i.e. December. 11 people have died and more than 250 people are injured on Mayotte Island after Cyclone Chido hit the Indian Ocean region. The French Home Ministry has expressed apprehension that the death toll may increase. According to the French Meteorological Service, Chido caused winds of more than 220 kilometers per hour (136 miles per hour), making it a Category 4 cyclone, the second most powerful cyclone on this scale. Mayotte, spread over two main islands about 800 kilometers off the east coast of Africa, has a population of more than 3 lakhs. Let us tell you that Mayotte, the poorest island of France, has already struggled with drought and low investment.
4 thousand deaths in gang violence in Haiti
