Raipur: The grand museum-cum-memorial being constructed in Nava Raipur, Atal Nagar, to commemorate the valor and sacrifice of Chhattisgarh’s tribal freedom fighters during the British Rule is being given a final form Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the museum on the occasion of State Festival. Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel visited the construction site on Tuesday October 14, 2025 .
This museum, being built on the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, will be the country’s first fully digital museum. Separate galleries are being created on the 14 major tribal rebellions that took place in Chhattisgarh during the freedom movement, as well as the Jungle Satyagraha and the Flag Satyagraha. Visitors to the museum will be able to see and hear vivid glimpses of these tribal movements.
During the inspection, Chief Secretary Sheel emphasised that all objects and materials displayed in the museum should be presented in their original form. He directed that the docudramas to be screened in the orientation room be prepared in Halbi-Gondi or other tribal dialects, so that they could serve as a powerful medium for connecting with local culture. Keeping the Prime Minister’s program in mind, he visited all the galleries and directed that necessary arrangements be made.
Principal Secretary Sonmoni Borah gave a brief introduction to the tribal rebellions to be displayed in the museum and provided detailed information regarding the entire route chart. He held a meeting with the concerned officials on Tuesday October 14 to review the preparations for the inauguration. Borah said that it is a very proud occasion for Chhattisgarh that the country’s first fully digital tribal museum is going to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He urged all departments to work in coordination.
Principal Secretary Sonmoni Borah directed that necessary security arrangements be ensured, as per the Prime Minister’s inauguration route plan, and that streetlights, painting, and beautification work along the entire route leading to the museum be completed promptly. He also said that that 24-hour power supply should be ensured in the museum area, and that necessary preparations for gardening and tree planting should also be completed on time.
It is worth mentioning that the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Museum will be the country’s first fully digital museum. The 14 galleries will vividly showcase the struggles and valor of the heroes of the major tribal rebellions that took place in Chhattisgarh during the freedom movement—the Halba Rebellion, the Surguja Rebellion, the Bhopalpatnam Rebellion, the Paralkot Rebellion, the Tarapur Rebellion, the Lingagiri Rebellion, the Koi Rebellion, the Maria Rebellion, the Muria Rebellion, the Rani Chauris Rebellion, the Bhumkal Rebellion, the Sonakhan Rebellion, and the Flag Satyagraha and Jungle Satyagraha.
Divisional Commissioner Mahadev Kavre, Commissioner Tribal Development Department Dr. Saransh Mittal, Commissioner of Chhattisgarh Housing Board Awanish Sharan, Collector Gaurav Singh, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Raipur Vishwajeet, Director TRTI Hina Animesh Netam, Director Self-Employed Development Corporation Dr. Jagdish Kumar Sonkar, Additional Collector Namrata Jain, Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Lal Umed Singh, DIG Chhattisgarh Fire and Emergency Services Suresh Thakur, Chief Executive Officer of NRDA, Chief Engineer of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board, and Chief and Executive Engineer of Public Works Department Raipur along with other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
