Preserving the legacy of tribal heroes is our collective responsibility – Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the workshop organised on Tribal Pride Day

Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday October 8, 2025 attended and inaugurated the Tribal Pride Day workshop held at the Convention Hall in Civil Lines, Raipur, the capital.

Chief Minister Sai said that last year, the Tribal Pride Day workshop was successfully held in the same auditorium, and was celebrated enthusiastically across the state.

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya participated in the 10-kilometer-long foot march organised in Jashpur, which featured an impressive display of the traditional costumes, cuisine, jewelry, and culture of the tribal community. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised this initiative and said that such events should be organised annually across the country.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has honored the glorious legacy of tribal heroes by deciding to celebrate Tribal Pride Day on the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. Referring to the contributions of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said that he had taken a historic step towards the respect and upliftment of tribal society by establishing the Ministry of Tribal Welfare for the first time.

Chief Minister Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, development work is progressing rapidly in Chhattisgarh under the PM Janman Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Dharti Aba Gram Utkarsh Yojana.

Under the Janman Yojana, 2,500 kilometers of roads have been constructed in the state and 32,000 houses have been approved under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana .

He informed that a Tribal Museum has been constructed in Nava Raipur, based on the 14 tribal rebellions of Chhattisgarh and the life of immortal martyr Veer Narayan Singh, which is a major initiative of our government towards preserving the heritage of tribal history and pride. The Chief Minister urged academics and intellectuals to include tribal pride and history in the educational curriculum so that the new generation can draw inspiration from the rich heritage of their ancestors.

Higher Education Minister Tankaram Verma said that this workshop will highlight the rich traditions and history of our tribal society and prove to be a milestone in addressing the challenges ahead. Its objective is to formulate a concrete strategy for the upliftment of tribal communities and connect them with education, health, livelihoods, and employment.

Tribal Development and Agriculture Minister Ram Vichar Netam said that the outline of this workshop will be prepared by all the enlightened people, and the state government will take concrete steps in that direction. He said that last year, Tribal Pride Day was successfully celebrated in almost all the districts of the state, and this year, efforts will be made to celebrate it in an even more effective and grand manner.

Forest and Climate Change Minister Kedar Kashyap said that last year, more than 70,000 people participated in the Tribal Pride Day program. This event sent a message across the country that Chhattisgarh has worked to bring the upliftment of tribal communities to the masses. Thanks to our great tribal heroes, we have inherited this rich heritage, and it is our responsibility to preserve it.

Yogesh Bapat, General Secretary of the All India Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram said that tribal society is a self-reliant society and it is our responsibility to restore its pride. He added that Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is particularly dedicated to the upliftment of tribal society. He urged that through this workshop, concrete plans be formulated that would help further elevate the pride and self-respect of tribal society.

On the occasion Dr. S. Bharathidasan, Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Dr. Saransh Mittal, Commissioner of the Tribal Development Department, Vijay Dayaram K., Director of Employment and Training, Vice Chancellors of various universities, Principals of leading colleges, and representatives of various institutions were present .
