New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday October 7 , 2025 over the phone and congratulated him on his 73rd birthday. During the conversation, both leaders reiterated their commitment to further deepening the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.

The Prime Minister wished President Putin good health and success in all his endeavors. He said that India is committed to further strengthening its bilateral relations with Russia and is looking forward to opportunities to elevate the long-standing strategic cooperation between the two countries to even greater heights.

During the conversation, the Prime Minister also expressed his eagerness to welcome President Putin to India. This meeting will take place during the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, scheduled to be held in India in December this year. Through this summit, the two countries plan to further expand cooperation in various areas and give new direction to the strategic partnership.

The two leaders also reviewed the progress of the bilateral agenda, discussing the direction of cooperation in key areas such as trade, defense, energy, and science and technology.
