Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday September 15, 2025 attended the 66th Foundation Day celebrations of Doordarshan at its Raipur centre and extended his greetings to the Doordarshan family, officers, staff and viewers. Lighting the ceremonial lamp, he inaugurated the programme and shared his personal memories associated with Doordarshan’s historic journey. On the occasion, he enjoyed captivating performances of Chhattisgarhi folk dance, folk songs and classical music and dance. Artists enthralled the gathering with presentations of Gaur dance, Bans song, Jawara dance, Sua dance and Gauri-Gaura folk traditions.

The Chief Minister said Doordarshan has played a pivotal role not only in entertainment but also in enriching society with ideas and nurturing values. Recalling the coloured telecast of the 1982 Asian Games and iconic serials like Ramayana and Mahabharata, he said the magic of Doordarshan was such that during telecast hours, streets would fall silent.
Highlighting Doordarshan’s contribution to national unity, CM Sai said songs like Mile Sur Mera Tumhara became symbols of harmony and cultural oneness. He praised Doordarshan for upholding dignity in news and purity in language.

He underlined the role of regional centres in providing national platforms to local talent. The Raipur Doordarshan centre, he said, has brought Chhattisgarh’s cultural heritage to national and global audiences through popular programmes, particularly Hamar Chinhari.
CM Sai further noted that through programmes like Krishi Darshan, women-centric shows and youth content, Doordarshan has reached every section of society. Recalling his interview on the Apni Baat programme after assuming office as CM, he said Doordarshan always provides the space to communicate with clarity and depth.

He added that the government’s welfare schemes are benefitting lakhs of people, and Doordarshan has effectively highlighted the positive transformations in society. “When one success story of an individual is broadcast on Doordarshan, it becomes an inspiring foundation to transform the lives of lakhs,” he said.
Extending warm wishes to the Doordarshan family on its Foundation Day, CM Vishnu Deo Sai expressed hope that Doordarshan would continue to remain a prime medium of entertainment, values and awareness for the people.
Culture and Tourism Minister Rajesh Agrawal said Doordarshan has played a vital role in showcasing Chhattisgarh’s art, culture and traditions on national and international platforms. He expressed confidence that in the coming times, Doordarshan will present the state’s cultural heritage to the world with even greater strength.
The event was attended by Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Deputy Director Genral, Raipur Doordarshan Kendra, along with other officials and staff.
