Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was called upon yesterday at his Raipur residence by India’s international chess player and Grandmaster Pravin Mahadeo Thipsay. The Chief Minister lauded Thipsay’s exceptional talent and remarkable achievements in the field of chess, extending his appreciation to him.
Also present on the occasion were Chhattisgarh Olympic Association General Secretary Vikram Sisodia, along with other office-bearers of the Association.
It is noteworthy that Pravin Mahadeo Thipsay is among the few Indian players to have earned the coveted title of Grandmaster in chess. He also holds the distinction of being the first Indian to win the Commonwealth Chess Championship. In recognition of his contribution to Indian sports, he has been honoured with the prestigious Arjun Award.
