Historic increase in paddy procurement: Big decision of double engine government dedicated to farmers – Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur: Today on Friday July 18, 2025 is a day of great joy and pride for the farmers of the state. The Central Government has given historic approval to increase the estimate of paddy procurement in Chhattisgarh from 70 lakh metric tonnes to 78 lakh metric tonnes for the Kharif marketing year 2024-25. This decision will give a new identity to the hard work of lakhs of food providers of the state and a new direction to their economic prosperity.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Food and Public Distribution Prahlad Joshi for this unprecedented decision. He said that this decision is a living evidence of the “double engine” Government – commitment of the Central and State Government, in which farmer welfare is the top priority.

Chief Minister Sai, while posting on social media handle ‘X’, said that the approval of the Central Government to purchase 8 lakh metric tonnes of additional paddy is a step recognising the hard work of our farmers. This will not only increase their income, but will also strengthen the agricultural economy of Chhattisgarh State .

He said that the state government is constantly working in the interest of the farmers and is ensuring every possible facility for them in coordination with the central government.

A concrete strategy is being made for better prices, timely payment and smooth procurement process to the paddy producing farmers of the state. This increase in the paddy procurement limit is going to boost the confidence of the farmers of the state. It is an indication of the Center’s faith in their hard work and production capacity.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the Chhattisgarh government has made full preparations to keep the procurement process transparent and well-organised.

The government is constantly implementing new schemes and measures for the prosperity of the food providers of the state.

Chief Minister Sai further said that bringing prosperity and respect in the lives of farmers is the priority of our government. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the food providers of Chhattisgarh will move towards new heights, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai added.
