Raipur : The train connectivity development is now gaining momentum in one of the most challenging areas of the country – Bastar region. After the approval of the Central Government for the Final Location Survey (FLS) work of the proposed 160.33 km long new rail line from Kothagudem (Telangana) to Kirandul (Chhattisgarh), the survey is now in its final stage.

138.51 km of this proposed rail line will pass through various areas of Naxal-affected districts like Sukma, Dantewada and Bijapur of Chhattisgarh, which have been deprived of rail connectivity till now. This project will not only simplify the movement, but will also bring revolutionary changes in the socio-economic development of these districts.

The survey work is being done by the Railways through state-of-the-art lidar technology. This rail line project is being specially monitored by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and it is considered extremely important from the point of view of internal security as well as regional development.

The Indian Railways Department has expressed special gratitude to the Chhattisgarh Government and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, due to whose instructions and coordination this survey work could gain momentum again. This railway line is going to become a symbol of security, inclusion and prosperity for the Bastar region in the future.
