The fourth day of the first Test match between India and England has ended. India’s second innings were all out for 364 and they gave England a target of 371 runs, gaining a total lead of 370 runs. Till stumps, England have scored 21 runs without any loss in the second innings and now they have to score 350 more runs on the fifth and final day. By the end of the day’s play, Jack Crawley was at the crease with 12 and Ben Duckett with 9 runs. If India has to win this match, then it will have to take all 10 wickets of England on Tuesday.

India will have high hopes from Jasprit Bumrah who performed brilliantly in the first innings. At the same time, England will also have to score runs fast to win. However, he will have a full day tomorrow.

India’s second innings has been all out for 364 runs. India took a lead of 370 runs with centuries from KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant and set a target of 371 runs in front of England. In the second innings for India, Pant and Rahul shared a 195-run partnership for the fourth wicket, which helped the team set a challenging target in front of England. However, India’s innings faltered after Pant and Rahul returned to the pavilion and the lower order batsmen could not impress.

India started playing on the fourth day at 90 runs for two wickets, but the team lost the wicket of captain Shubman Gill in the beginning. After this, Pant and Rahul batted brilliantly and troubled the England bowlers fiercely. Before the tea break, India lost the wicket of Pant who was dismissed after scoring 118 runs. After this, Rahul was handling the innings, but he too was dismissed after scoring 137 runs. As soon as Rahul returned to the pavilion, the Indian batsmen started struggling to score runs.

Josh Tongue gave three blows to India in his one over. India lost their remaining six wickets for 31 runs. Similar was seen in the first innings when India lost their last seven wickets for 41 runs. Apart from Pant and Rahul, Karun Nair scored 20 and Shardul Thakur scored 4 runs, while Ravindra Jadeja returned unbeaten after scoring 25 runs.
